pregnancy yoga

During the nine months of pregnancy the body will need to accommodate enormous physical changes, new demands are placed on its systems every day. Yoga for pregnancy accommodates all of these changes and more. Its increasing popularity over the years is as a result of women throughout the world experiencing it's positive effects. I attribute my healthy pregnancies, natural labours and home-births of my son and daughter in great part to my yoga practice. Some of the benefits experienced include, Improved posture - this can ease backache, pelvis and shoulder pain and keep you comfortably mobile for the full duration of pregnancy. Improved awareness of breath - allows the body to be fully oxygenated, which is nourishing for baby and energising for Mum. Increased circulation - can prevent varicose veins, piles and fluid retention. Yoga invigorates, combating fatigue. The postures and breath of Pregnancy Yoga can extend into the labour itself helping Mum to move more freely and instinctively. Above all, Pregnancy Yoga creates a space for women to connect with others each week who are going through the same physical, emotional and social changes. A network of new friends is created to support and encourage when baby arrives.
